Hey everybody! It’s David Ursino in Vaughan here and today I’m in Weston Downs. It’s one of the more well established neighbourhoods in Woodbridge. It’s located just north of Langstaff and south of Rutherford between Weston Road to the National Golf Club.
Now, it’s a community of about 25,000 - 2,600 homes, most of them have been built in the mid ‘80s, although there’s a newer stretch just south of Rutherford with homes that were built in the mid ‘90s into 2000, 2001. Now these are all larger detached homes, typically above 3,000 square feet, larger lots as well, the minimum frontage here is about 60 feet. There’s some million dollar mansions as well.
As to who moves here, typically it’s people that will sell a smaller home and look for a larger home in an established neighbourhood with tree-lines streets, with a lot of families. Not a lot of young families because they’re first time buyers and given the fact that you can’t really find anything under $600,000 mark as of June 2010 right now, it kind of detracts the first time home buyers obviously.
So the people that have matured a little bit and want something a little bit bigger will move into this neighbourhood, there’s a lot of professionals that live here, a lot of people that own their own businesses, a lot of successful people basically.
There’s a couple of elementary school, they’re both Catholic. The neighbourhood is located very close to the 400 Highway so you've got easy access to the highway and a great overall neighbourhood.
